RGU Guest lecturing Invitation – The Two-Decade Impact of Janine Ewen in Public Health, Safety, and Childhood Vulnerability

Janine Ewen has been invited to deliver guest lectures at Robert Gordon University (RGU) to share her expertise and insights as a leading authority in public health, law enforcement, and matters concerning vulnerability. She will concentrate on imparting her expertise to students in criminology and sociology. Janine's influence spans globally; however, a significant portion of her insights is rooted in her experiences from northeast Scotland.

Janine's primary specialties:

  • Harm Reduction: Janine has worked extensively on developing harm reduction strategies, particularly in the context of organised crime/criminalisation.

  • Trauma-Informed Care: She advocates for trauma-informed practices in policing and social services, emphasising the need for sensitive and supportive approaches when working with vulnerable populations, especially children and young people.

  • Vulnerability and Policing: Janine's research explores the intersection of policing and vulnerability, highlighting the importance of needs-based approaches when working with underserved communities.

“I am eager to provide my perspectives and actionable advice to students who wish to deepen their knowledge in these areas. The domains of public health, law enforcement, and vulnerability have expanded significantly, largely driven by international initiatives aimed at minimising harm through needs-oriented approaches, improving health and justice, bolstering security, and applying practical reasoning to ensure the protection of individuals and facilitate the reporting of violent crimes.”

Janine will begin guest lecturing at RGU in 2026.
